About Marquis Entertainment
Marquis Entertainment has established itself as a leader in the international theatre industry with a focus on Licensing, Producing and General Managing plays/productions for both national and international markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Austria, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and South Africa. Co-Founded 1996 by Judy Richardson and Robert Richardson, Marquis Entertainment was launched with the intention to represent and produce select Canadian theatrical plays/productions in order to foster national and international growth for these properties on a commercial level. Since its inception, Marquis Entertainment has grown into a full service operation that also manages theatrical productions and live events on behalf of organizations that do not have the infrastructure or the expertise to do so themselves. Through this, the company provides much needed guidance in an industry often characterized by instability and uncertainty. Marquis Entertainment is associated with a diverse roster of associate artistic and production personnel who provide services in technical management, marketing, publicity, graphic design, and group sales. To this day, Marquis Entertainment is highly regarded by industry leaders and continues to receive referrals from companies both in Canada and around the globe. In an industry ruled by short-term contracts, Marquis Entertainment has had numerous clients stay with the company for many years through multiple projects. Marquis Entertainment is also delighted to be the Artistic Producer of the Jackson-Triggs Estate Winery's Amphitheatre since its launch in 2001 - a five hundred seat open air theatre in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Over the last 9 seasons of Jackson-Triggs' Twilight in the Vineyard series, the performers at the amphitheatre have ranged from Canadian icons Bruce Cockburn, Chantal Kreviazuk, Tom Cochrane, Rufus Wainwright, Steven Page (of the Barenaked Ladies), Colin James, Paul Brandt, Jim Cuddy (of Blue Rodeo), Jesse Cook, The Philosopher Kings, David Usher, Kathleen Edwards, Spirit of the West and Matthew Good to classical artists such as The Canadian Tenors, Measha Brueggergosman and members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra to Order of Canada recipients Veronica Tennant and Rex Harrington. In December 2004 Robert Richardson/Marquis Entertainment was the recipient of the Ontario Media and Development Corporation Al Waxman Calling Card Grant which allowed him to produce the award-winning* short screenplay Santa Baby by David Widdicombe (*2003 Toronto Short Film Festival). Santa Baby was filmed in 2005, directed by David Widdicombe, and received top honours from film festivals throughout North America including the Los Angeles Short Film Festival (2006 Best Comedy) and Yorkton Short Film Festival (2006 Best Actress / shortlisted for Best Comedy). It premiered on Canadian TV on Showcase TV in the fall of 2007.
